How many should I buy?

What pressure should 275/40R18 be inflated to?

Pressure belongs to the car, not to the tyre: read the plate on the driver's door pillar or inside the fuel flap. Passenger cars are usually between 2.0 and 2.5 bar, and the maker may ask for more when the car is loaded. Check it monthly with the tyres cold — low pressure costs fuel and wears the tyre out.

When should a tyre be replaced?

Replace a summer tyre by 1.6 mm of tread and a winter tyre by about 4 mm; when the tread has worn down to the wear bars the tyre is finished. Whatever its age, a tyre with a cracked, bulging or deformed sidewall is not fit to use.
